Sure was rainin’ early this morning, it started last night right around closin’ time. This water baptism follows that baptism of John for repentance and remission of sin. Though this practice will soon change (1 Cor 1:17), it is what was called for at the time. Saul begins to eat and regains his strength, remaining in Damascus.
Acts 9:20 KJB… “And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.”
Note well, we are still in Hebrew synagogues. The Jews there were shocked indeed to hear the former hunter of believers begin to teach the very things his prey believed.
Acts 9:22 KJB… “But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ.”
The focus remains on Jews because up until this point it is the Jews through whom God speaks to the world. It is yet unknown, but that mystery or hidden wisdom of God (1 Cor 2:7-8, Rom 16:25-27) has begun to be revealed with Christ’s unprophesied return to the unbelieving Saul.
Is there anything about his behavior that would cause Christ to show favor? No, for Saul was the chief of sinners (1 Tim 1:15-16). Previously, all believers were commanded to love the Lord, keep the commandments and sell all property as the earthly Kingdom was at hand. Something very different is happening here.

A bit chilly out there with a high of only 58 degrees dropping to a low of 47 by early Sunday morning.
